Defibrillator Battery Replacement
Vermont rates for HCPCS 33264
Replaces the battery-and-computer unit of an implanted defibrillator, the device that watches the heart rhythm and delivers a shock if a dangerous rhythm starts. Through a small incision over the existing pocket, usually below the collarbone, the old unit is taken out, the wires already running to the heart are tested, and a new unit is connected and put back in the pocket. The wires themselves stay where they are.
