Defibrillator Lead Removal Through a Vein

Removes one or more wires that run from an implanted defibrillator through a vein into the heart, drawing them back out along the vein instead of opening the chest. Special sheaths and cutting tools are used to free wires that have scarred into the vein wall over the years. It is done when a wire has failed, is infected, or is in the way.
