Moving The Pocket That Holds A Defibrillator

Rhode Island rates for HCPCS 33223

Moves an implanted defibrillator out of the pouch of tissue under the skin where it has been sitting and into a new pocket nearby, usually deeper or slightly to one side. It is done when the original site is painful, when the skin over the device is thinning or breaking down, or when the pocket is infected. The wires running to the heart stay where they are and the device is settled into its new position.
