Temporary Pacing Wire Into the Heart

South Dakota rates for HCPCS 33210

A pacing wire is threaded through a vein into one chamber of the heart and connected to a pacemaker box outside the body, so the heart can be paced for a short period. It is used when the heartbeat is dangerously slow or pausing and support is needed until the rhythm recovers or a permanent device can be arranged. The wire is removed once it is no longer needed.
