Pacing Wires Attached to the Heart Surface

Vermont rates for HCPCS 33202

Attaches pacing wires directly onto the outer surface of the heart through a surgical opening in the chest, so a pacemaker or defibrillator can sense and stimulate the heartbeat. This route is used when wires cannot be threaded in through the veins, for example in small children or after certain heart operations. The generator itself is placed as a separate step.
