Removal of One Lobe of a Lung

Removal of one of the lobes that make up a lung, through an incision in the chest wall between the ribs. The airway and blood vessels to that lobe are divided and sealed, and the remaining lobes expand to fill the space. It is the usual operation for a cancer confined to one lobe.
