Removal Of An Entire Lung

Maryland rates for HCPCS 32440

Surgery to remove a whole lung on one side, done through an incision in the chest wall between the ribs. It is most often performed for a lung cancer that involves the central airways or crosses between lobes, where taking out a smaller portion would not clear the disease. Recovery involves a chest drain and a hospital stay while the remaining lung takes over.
