Removal of an Airway Tumor Through a Scope

Vermont rates for HCPCS 31640

A scope is passed into the windpipe and lungs and a growth blocking or lining an airway is cut away through it, sometimes with X-ray guidance to see where the instrument is. Clearing the growth reopens the airway so air can pass and can relieve breathlessness, coughing, or bleeding. Tissue removed is sent for laboratory examination.
