Airway Scope To Find And Seal An Air Leak

New Jersey rates for HCPCS 31634

A scope is passed into the airways and a balloon is inflated in one branch at a time to work out which part of the lung is leaking air into the chest. Once the leaking branch is identified, a sealing substance such as surgical glue may be injected to close it. It is used for a persistent air leak that has not settled with a chest drain alone.
