Emergency Airway Through The Neck Membrane

Utah rates for HCPCS 31605

An emergency opening is cut through the thin membrane at the front of the neck, just below the Adam's apple, and a tube is inserted so the patient can breathe. It is done when someone cannot breathe and a tube cannot be passed through the mouth or nose. It is a life-saving measure carried out in minutes and converted to a longer-term airway later if needed.
