Frontal Sinus Closure Through A Scalp Incision

Maine rates for HCPCS 31081

Surgery on the frontal sinus, the air pocket in the forehead above the eyes, reached through an incision running across the top of the scalp behind the hairline. The lining of the sinus is stripped away and the space is filled or sealed so that it can no longer produce mucus or trap infection. It is used for long-standing infection, injury, or a mucus-filled cyst that has not responded to less involved treatment.
