An operation on the frontal sinus, the air space in the forehead above the eyes, performed through an incision on the outside of the face rather than through the nose. The lining of the sinus is stripped out and the cavity is filled in so that it can no longer collect mucus or become infected. It is used for long-standing infection, a mucus-filled sac, or a growth that has not responded to less invasive treatment.
