Drainage of an Abscess in the Nasal Septum

Vermont rates for HCPCS 30020

This procedure drains a collection of blood or pus that has built up within the nasal septum, the wall of cartilage and bone dividing the two nostrils. It is treated urgently because trapped fluid pressing on the septum can damage the cartilage if not relieved promptly. The area is opened, drained, and often packed briefly to prevent the fluid from reaccumulating.
