Uses a small camera and fine instruments through tiny incisions at a knuckle joint, most often the joint at the base of the thumb, to move a torn side ligament back into its correct position against the bone. When this ligament tears it can flip out of place and become trapped, so it cannot heal on its own until it is repositioned. It typically follows a fall or a forceful bend of the thumb that leaves the joint loose and painful when pinching.
