A keyhole examination of a knuckle joint at the base of a finger. A very fine camera is passed through a tiny opening so the surgeon can look directly inside the joint, and a small sample of the joint lining is taken for examination. It is used when the cause of ongoing pain, swelling or catching in the joint is not clear from examination and scans.
