Releases the tight band of tissue running along the sole of the foot from the heel toward the toes, to relieve long-standing heel pain. A small scope and a cutting instrument are passed through tiny incisions at the heel, and part of the band is divided under direct vision so the pull on the heel bone eases. It is considered only after months of stretching, insoles, night splints and injections have failed.
