Knee Arthroscopy With Meniscus Repair

Alaska rates for HCPCS 29882

Keyhole surgery in which a torn meniscus, the C-shaped cartilage cushion between the thigh and shin bones, is stitched back together rather than trimmed away. The surgeon works through small punctures with a camera and passes sutures or anchors across the tear so it can knit. Saving the cushion protects the joint, but calls for a longer period of protected weight-bearing than trimming does.
