Through small cuts at the front of the knee, a camera and fine instruments are used to remove inflamed joint lining from a limited part of the joint — for example a thickened fold of tissue that catches painfully as the knee bends. Only that area is dealt with, rather than clearing lining throughout the joint. It is usually done as day surgery with a quick return to walking.
