This surgery relieves pressure on the median nerve at the wrist by cutting the ligament that forms the roof of the carpal tunnel, performed through one or two small incisions using a camera-guided instrument rather than a single larger open incision. Releasing the ligament gives the nerve more room and can relieve the numbness, tingling, and hand weakness associated with carpal tunnel syndrome. The smaller incisions used in this endoscopic approach may allow for a quicker initial recovery than the traditional open technique.
