Amputation of the Foot Through the Long Bones

Vermont rates for HCPCS 28805

Removes the front part of the foot by cutting across the long bones that lead to the toes, leaving the heel and midfoot intact. A flap of healthy skin from the sole is used to cover the end. It is done when the front of the foot cannot be saved because of infection, poor blood supply or severe injury.
