Fusion Of A Single Midfoot Joint

Vermont rates for HCPCS 28740

Permanently joins the two bones of one joint in the middle of the foot so that it no longer moves. The surgeon clears the worn cartilage from the joint surfaces, presses the bones together and holds them with screws or a plate until they grow into one solid piece. It is done to relieve pain from arthritis or a deformity at that joint.
