Fusion of Multiple Midfoot Joints

Permanently joins several joints in the middle of the foot so that the bones grow together into one solid unit. Cartilage is removed from the joint surfaces and the bones are held with screws, plates or staples while they knit. It is done for arthritis, deformity or instability in the midfoot that causes pain with walking.
