This procedure repositions a dislocated bone in the midfoot back into its normal alignment and holds it there with pins or wires inserted through small punctures in the skin, rather than through a large open incision. It is used when the bone will not stay in place on its own after being repositioned. The pins are typically removed once the joint has stabilized.
