Cutting and Repositioning the Big Toe Bone

Cuts the long bone behind the big toe, the first metatarsal, and moves it into a better position, sometimes making it shorter or longer at the same time. It is used for a crooked, overloaded or poorly aligned big toe that causes pain when walking. The bone is usually held in its new position with a screw, pin or small plate while it heals.
