This surgery corrects a bunion, the bony bump that forms at the base of the big toe when it drifts out of alignment, by removing the enlarged portion of bone and part of the joint, then repositioning the surrounding soft tissue. Unlike some other bunion surgery approaches, this technique does not involve cutting and resetting the long bone of the foot.
