Releases the tight capsules and lengthens the tightened tendons around the middle of the foot and the back of the ankle, so a stiff, inturned foot can be brought into a normal position. It is the more extensive form of release, reaching both the midfoot and the back of the ankle, and is used for a clubfoot deformity that has resisted casting and lesser surgery.
