Releases the tight joint capsules in the middle of the foot and lengthens the tight tendons that are pulling the foot out of shape, so it can be brought into a normal position. It is used for a stiff, deformed foot that stretching, casting or bracing alone cannot correct. The foot is normally held in a cast afterwards while it heals in the corrected position.
