Removal Of Diseased Bone, Midfoot Or Forefoot

South Dakota rates for HCPCS 28122

Surgery that removes a diseased, infected, or damaged section of a bone in the middle of the foot or of one of the long bones running out to the toes, sparing the ankle bone and the heel bone, which are treated separately. It is typically used to clear away infected bone, as in a bone infection, or to reshape bone left misshapen by an old injury or an overgrowth. Only the affected part of the bone is taken, not the whole bone.
