Partial Removal of Fifth Metatarsal Bone Bump

Vermont rates for HCPCS 28110

This surgery removes an excess portion of bone from the head of the fifth metatarsal, the long bone behind the little toe, to relieve pain caused by a bony prominence or callus on the outside of the foot, a condition sometimes called a bunionette. It reduces the bone's size so it stops rubbing painfully against footwear or the ground, and is distinct from surgery for a bunion at the big toe.
