A benign cyst or tumor inside one of the smaller bones of the midfoot or forefoot (other than the ankle bone or heel bone) is scraped out or removed, and the resulting space is filled with donor bone graft rather than bone taken from the patient's own body. This helps support the bone while it heals and reduces the risk of a repeat fracture at the site. It's typically done when the growth is benign but large enough to weaken the bone.
