Setting a Broken Ankle Joint Surface

Treats a break in the lower end of the shin bone where it forms the weight-bearing surface of the ankle joint, without opening the skin. The pieces are brought back into position by pulling and manoeuvring the limb, sometimes with traction applied through a pin, and the leg is then held still in a cast, splint or frame. X-rays are used to check that the joint surface is lined up.
