Lengthening of a Tight Calf Muscle

Vermont rates for HCPCS 27687

Lengthens a tight calf by cutting across the fibrous sheet at the lower end of the gastrocnemius, the large muscle at the back of the lower leg, so the ankle can bend upward further. A calf that will not stretch forces extra load onto the heel and ball of the foot and is a frequent cause of stubborn foot pain. It is done through a small incision at the back of the calf.
