Delayed Repair of the Achilles Tendon

Vermont rates for HCPCS 27654

Rebuilds the Achilles tendon in a delayed operation, done when a rupture was never repaired or when an earlier repair has given way and the tendon ends have drawn apart and scarred. Because the gap can no longer simply be stitched closed, the surgeon may bring in a nearby tendon or a graft to bridge it, which is part of the same service. Recovery takes longer than for a repair done soon after the original injury.
