Repair of a Torn Achilles Tendon

Vermont rates for HCPCS 27652

Reattaches the torn ends of the Achilles tendon, the thick cord joining the calf muscles to the heel bone, which usually snaps during a sudden push-off. The ends are brought together and stitched, either through an incision at the back of the ankle or through small punctures in the skin. The leg is then held in a cast or boot with the foot pointed downwards at first, and brought up gradually as the tendon heals.
