Opening the Ankle Joint to Look Inside

Vermont rates for HCPCS 27620

The ankle joint is opened through an incision so the inside of the joint can be examined directly. A tissue sample may be taken, and loose fragments of bone or cartilage or foreign material can be removed at the same time. It is used when the cause of ankle pain, swelling, or locking needs to be identified and dealt with.
