Opening Infected Bone in the Leg or Ankle

Vermont rates for HCPCS 27607

Cuts down to a bone of the lower leg or ankle and opens its hard outer shell to release and drain infection or an abscess trapped inside it. Infected material and dead bone are cleared out and the area is washed, with samples sent to identify the organism. Opening the bone lets antibiotics reach tissue they otherwise cannot.
