Treats a break in one of the two rounded knobs at the lower end of the thigh bone, at the knee, without cutting the skin. The leg is brought into good alignment and held from the outside in a cast, splint, or brace while the bone knits. Repeat X-rays check that the broken piece has not shifted while it heals.
