Rebuilds a torn or stretched ligament inside the knee joint through an open incision, using tissue to replace or reinforce the damaged ligament so the knee stops giving way. It is used for instability that has not settled with therapy and bracing. The knee is protected in a brace afterwards while the new ligament takes hold.
