Opening The Thigh Or Knee Bone To Drain Infection

Vermont rates for HCPCS 27303

Surgery that cuts down to the thigh bone or the bone at the knee and opens the hard outer shell so infected material inside can be drained out. The infected and dead bone is washed out, samples are sent to identify the organism, and antibiotics follow. It is done for a bone infection or abscess that will not clear with medicine alone.
