Repair of an Upper Thigh Bone Break With a Rod

Vermont rates for HCPCS 27245

Surgery for a break in the upper thigh bone near the hip, fixed with a metal rod running down the hollow center of the bone. Screws passed through the rod hold the broken pieces in position while the bone heals, and a wire loop is sometimes added around the shaft. The rod shares the load along the length of the bone, which often allows earlier weight-bearing.
