Plate-and-Screw Repair of a Broken Upper Thigh Bone

Vermont rates for HCPCS 27244

Fixes a break in the upper end of the thigh bone, in the broad region just below the ball of the hip, by fastening a metal plate along the bone with screws running across the break. A wire loop is sometimes added around the bone to draw loose fragments together. The hardware holds everything in position so the person can begin moving again while the bone knits.
