Revision of Hip Replacement, Thigh Bone Part

Vermont rates for HCPCS 27138

Redoes an existing hip replacement by taking out the stem that sits inside the thigh bone and putting a new one in, leaving the socket side of the joint alone. Donated bone may be packed around the new stem where the thigh bone has thinned or lost substance. It is done when that part has loosened, worn, sunk, or become infected.
