Removes a cyst or noncancerous growth from bone in the pelvic ring or the bony prominence at the top of the thigh bone. The abnormal tissue is scraped or cut out and sent to a laboratory, and the cavity left behind may be filled with the patient's own bone. It is done for pain, weakening of the bone, or an enlarging lesion.
