Removal Of An Inflamed Bursa Near The Sit Bone

Washington, DC rates for HCPCS 27060

This procedure surgically removes a bursa — a small fluid-filled sac that normally cushions and reduces friction — located over the ischium, the bone you sit on. It's done when the bursa has become chronically inflamed and painful, a condition sometimes called ischial bursitis, and hasn't improved with rest, padding, or injections. The area is closed with stitches after the bursa is removed.
