Removing Inflamed Joint Lining From the Hip

Vermont rates for HCPCS 27054

The hip joint is opened surgically and the inflamed lining of the joint, called the synovium, is cut away. That lining thickens and pours out excess fluid in conditions such as inflammatory arthritis, causing pain, swelling, and stiffness. Removing it eases the symptoms and can slow the damage being done to the cartilage.
