Surgery through an incision at the front of the hip to divide the tendons that bend the hip, freeing a leg that is held in a bent position. It is used when tight or spastic hip flexors stop the hip from straightening, which interferes with standing, walking, or sitting. Only the tendon is cut; the joint itself is left alone.
