Divides the tight adductor tendon in the groin — the cord that pulls the thigh inward — through an open incision, so the legs can be separated more easily. Opening the area lets the surgeon see the tendon and the structures beside it directly while it is divided. It is often done when the inner thigh muscles are permanently tight from spasticity.
