Pinning a Broken Finger Bone Through the Skin

Alabama rates for HCPCS 26727

Treatment of an unstable break in the shaft of a finger or thumb bone in which the bone is lined up and then held with wires or pins passed through the skin, without opening the fracture site. Live X-ray guides the pins into position. Leaving the area unopened means less scarring around the tendons, and the pins are usually removed in a clinic visit once the bone has healed.
