When one of the joints where the hand's long bones meet the wrist bones (the carpometacarpal joints, other than the thumb) becomes dislocated, this treatment puts it back into proper position without any incision. The patient is given anesthesia first, and the provider manually manipulates the joint back into place. It is used for dislocations that can be corrected without surgery.
