Setting A Broken Hand Bone With An External Fixation Device

Hawaii rates for HCPCS 26607

Treatment of a broken bone in the hand, one of the long bones connecting the wrist to the fingers, by realigning the pieces without cutting open the skin, then holding the bone in place with a fixation device attached from outside the body rather than hardware implanted underneath the skin. It is used when the fracture is unstable enough that a cast or splint alone would not hold the alignment. The device is typically removed once the bone has healed enough.
